Delicious & Gluten Free in The Cotswolds

I went to The Cotswolds for the weekend for my friend's hen party..

While I'm not a fan of hen parties (or weddings for that matter!), this one was right up my street.

It was a lovely relaxing weekend spent at a spa hotel out in the countryside, Tewkesbury Park Hotel. It was my first time traveling to The Cotswolds from London and the drive took ages, the traffic was so bad. I was glad we weren't having a busy weekend because, with the long travel time and my long covid, I needed lots of rest.

The hotel had a spa and golf course. We spent a day in the spa and had a lovely massage, then I went to sleep for the rest of the day while the girls had an afternoon tea. The hotel had messed up our massage bookings so gave us an afternoon tea to make up for it.

On the first night we ate in the hotel as it was included in our package. I was really impressed with the food and they had plenty of gluten free options.

I had the burrata (my go-to) and the chicken. I was too exhausted to stay for the dessert after the long travel from London but the food was delicious.

The good thing about the hotel having a nice restaurant is that there wasn't far to go to get to bed!

We had breakfast at the hotel both mornings and I was relieved and surprised at how good they were with gluten free. While there was a buffet, the staff also took orders and were very knowledgeable about gluten free and cross contamination. She was very attentive and made sure I had what I wanted and that it was safe for me.

We also went into Cheltenham one evening for cocktails and dinner. While I don't drink alcohol, we went to a bar that did nice mocktails too - including alcohol free aperol spritz! My favourite.

For dinner we went to a restaurant called No. 131. They have a GF labelled menu which was good. The portions were quite small but very delicious!

It was a great spot for an outdoor autumnal meal with a beautiful cosy outdoor (heated) terrace.

Although the hotel wasn't perfect (like messing up our massage bookings), if you are looking for a great relaxing gluten free experience in the countryside, I would recommend (even better if you like golf!).
