Hitchin is only about 35 minutes from London with trains running from both Kings Cross and St Pancras. Once you get there, the farm is only a short taxi or Uber ride from the station.
The best time of year for lavender is mid June to mid/late August, the tickets are only £7 and for an extra fee you can pick lavender.
It can get quite busy but we went on a Thursday morning so it was nice and quiet and perfect for a little photoshoot! We also brought a picnic and enjoyed it in the sunshine. Unfortunately since then, they have stopped allowing picnics because of people littering. Such a shame that these people have ruined it for everyone else!
They do everything you need; a cafe and shop, car parking and loos.
From late July to mid August they also have beautiful sunflowers growing. The second time I visited, we went quite late in the season so there weren't many but it was still a lovely experience. They even let us have free entry that day!
I would highly recommend for a day our whether you want to shoot photos for Instagram or just have a relaxing wander around.
If you do bring some Lavender home, here are 3 things you can make with Lavender:
