I went to Oxford on Graduation Day...
Although we didn't actually know that it was graduation day, it was a mistake travelling there on that day. The train was heaving, I had to sit on the floor between the carriages. And once we got there, the town was packed.
While it was a beautiful place and I enjoyed seeing all the architecture, it was just too busy (and I live in central London!). It seemed to be that at most of the campuses, you had to pay to go on. Which we didn't want to do, so I guess we didn't get the full experience.
Thankfully we had booked lunch at The Folly which was calm and quiet, situated next to the river Thames. A lovely respite from the craziness of Graduation Day.
The food was British Modern cuisine which was delicious and fuelled us for the rest of the day and the trip back to London. The staff were helpful and friendly and it was the best part of the trip.
The menu was GF labelled and they also have dairy free and vegan options. It is the perfect spot for a summers day lunch.
